Monday 3/22 Jazz Band rehearsal @ M-A, 7-8PM for combined piece with M-A & La Entrada

Wednesday 3/24 M-A Partner Concert@M-A, 7-9PM

Friday-Sunday 4/23-25 Reno Jazz Festival Depart 4/23 @ 7AM, Return 4/25@ 1-2PM

Saturday 5/1 Keplers Day - approx. 11-12 (let your coaches know about this NOW!)

Wednesday 5/26 Spring Concert 7-8:30 (NOTE:We are trying to secure the Woodside High School  PAC for this event.  If we do, there will be an admission charge.  If you have concerns about this, please e-mail me) 


More Tweaking of Jazz Band Schedule -  

Monday - Soloing Workshop with the Lab Band Rhythm Section and alternating sections of the Jazz Band.  This week will be saxes and strings.   Next week will be brass.   Then saxes and strings, etc..etc.  If this won't work out due to carpools, either choose to come or not.  In April, as we gear up to the Reno Jazz Festival, Monday 12 & 19 will be used for the group going on the trip. 

Tuesday Vocal Jazz Combo will begin next week.  This will require a small combo of musicians (rhythm section plus small group of wind/brass players).  We are still in need of an alto sax, guitar & drums.  It is a lot of fun.

Wednesday Jazz Band - Our regular rehearsals continue as we prepare material for the Reno Jazz Festival and the Spring Concert.  

Lastly,   I would like to ask all students to make an effort to LISTEN TO JAZZ MUSIC, especially the tunes that we are doing.  You can find many examples (even the exact arrangements) on YouTube or in the Menlo Park library.  Our local radio resource, KJAZZ at 91.1 FM is extraordinary!  

Also, many thanks for your patience as the new classes have gotten underway.  I appreciate that many of you want to play and that carpooling is an issue. If there is ever a question, please know that students can always hang-out in the Music Room, even if they are not called to pay for that specific rehearsal.  If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
