Committee Chair(s):
Kathy Oppenheimer
Committee overview, objectives and activities:

There are two Hot Food programs at Hillview.  The first is  the Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday program is known as “Pre-paid Hot Food”.   Lunches are ordered for these days via the Children's Choice company.  Parents log on to www.choicelunch.com to order and pay for lunches. The PTO sponsors the second program, "Cash Hot Food" on Thursdays, which enables students to purchase entrees, drinks, chips and ice-cream without the need to pre-order. For the Pre-Paid Hot Food program, volunteers are needed on M/T/W/F to distribute the meals that have been pre-ordered.  The time commitment is from approximately 11:40 to 12:40.  Volunteers set up the distribution lines (6/7/8th grade and cold entrees) from about 11:40 to 12:10, hand out the lunches to students from about 12:10 to 12:30, and clean up the tables and other items used from about 12:30 to 12:40.On rotating Thursdays, students are able to purchase either Hamburger/Pizza/Tacos/Chicken and a variety of chip, drink and ice cream selections with cash.  They "shop" from a variety of food choices allowing them the opportunity to manage money, make choices and budget as needed.   The time commitment for Thursdays is from approximately 10:40 to 12:50.  Volunteers prepare the fresh fruit, and set up tables for chips, drinks and ice cream items from approximately 10:40 to 11:40.  Volunteers handout food to students, manage stock supply for the other items and take cash from students from about 11:40 to 12:40.  Clean-up is finished before 1:00.We'd love to have you as a part of this vital program at Hillview, which ensures our kids have a healthy school lunch.  Volunteering for Hot Food provides a great chance to catch up with parents, as well as see your kids and their friends in their school environment!  Choose a day of the week, month to volunteer, or get a group of friends together and choose a "day" where you're all together serving lunch!  Thanks in advance for your help!  /maya & kathy
