Parents need to be aware of a new kind of social networking called social mapping. These free, downloadable apps, including Loopt, Foursquare, and Gowalla, use geographic information to connect people to each other and to places. Unless privacy settings for these programs are set to the highest level, these programs can basically tell users where your child is. To learn more, click the following link from Common Sense Media:
The 7th Grade Renaissance Faire is March 25, 2010. Parents are needed to help in the following areas: 1) Day of Faire Volunteers - involves supervising a booth and booth workers, helping to ensure that the Faire runs smoothly. 2) Sewing volunteers - Mr. Rogers and Mrs. Thompson need sewers, sewing machines and anyone willing to help students cut out patterns, pin cloth, etc. 3) Mr. Hicks and Mr. Kaelin need help with Arts and Crafts, i.e. making pouches, potpourris, embroidery, etc. Students also have a list of costume requirements they need to bring when their sewing rotation begins. Please review the attached costume list, and fill out and return the attached volunteer forms asap! Thank you!
